Planning and policy advocacy

  • Renaming of Rajasthan Mission on Livelihoods has been done vide Government of Rajasthan order dated 3rd June, 2009 to ‘Rajasthan Mission on Skill and Livelihoods’.

  •  

    The Chief Minister’s Office has directed RMoL for building up a complete plan towards institutionalizing the Rajasthan Mission as a legal entity. Various options have been deliberated upon and a formal proposal would be put up to the Dy Chairman for further action.

Skill Development

    • The updated guideline document on skill training programmes for 2009-10 for the skill training providers has been published.
    • So far 408 skill training programmes for 2009-10 have been approved for sanction and 152 training providers have been given sanction letter for organizing 364 training programmes.
    • Course contents of 30 additional courses have been reformulated or updated and course contents of 120 courses in total are ready.
    • Information cum guidelines for implementation of Spoken English cum Employment readiness , Career Grooming and Plus Courses in general education for 2009-10 have been revised and approved by the Dy. Chairman for circulation to colleges willing to participate in these courses.

Initiatives for Livelihood Promotion

  • Contracts have been signed with SRIJAN for implementation of Dairy Cluster promotion activity in Tonk District and with CEE for promotion of micro enterprises by tribal in Udaipur District.
  • MoU has been signed with PEDO to start the Livelihood Resource Centre of RMoL in district Dungarpur.
  • MoU has been signed with CECOEDECON to implement the Financial Literacy programme. The activity has the target of enhancing capacities of 10,000 women in Tonk district. The Indian School of Microfinance for Women (ISMW) has been collaborated for capacity building of CECOEDECON trainers under the ToT programme.  
  • Under the migrant support activity, an office has been set up by Aajeevika Bureau through RMoL support at village Aaspur in Dungarpur district for initiation of migrant support services.
  • On request from the Police Department of Rajasthan, the RMoL team paid visits to Mogiya community in Baran and Kanjar community in Jhalawar to explore possibilities of rehabilitation of these communities which are traditionally involved in unlawful activities.
  • The Agriculture Extension Department, Dungarpur has sought collaboration with RMoL in developing patches of ginger and garlic through organic farming. The Department is willing to support in terms of providing seeds, cold storage and market linkages. The farmers will work through institutionalizing farmers’ clubs.
  • Eight Institutions have been short listed for establishment of Rajasthan Institute of Security Education (RISE) in seven divisional headquarters.
  • The e-learning material for skill training on “Household Wiring and Repair of Domestic Electrical Appliances” has been finally reviewed at RMoL end and submitted for production of soft copies.

Monitoring and Coordination

  • Orientation training for conducting preliminary survey on “Impact of financial crisis on poor women and men workers in Rajasthan” was organized for the field team at RMoL office on 6th June and was facilitated by EDI, Ahmedabad. 
  • The preliminary survey on “Impact of financial crisis on poor women and men workers in Rajasthan”, supported by UNDP in Construction and Gems and Jewellery Sectors is underway in Jaipur, Tonk, Rajsamand and Dungarpur and the field visits are about to be wrapped up. The Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Jaipur has been collaborated for data analysis and report writing. Final report is expected by the end of July, 2009.
  • Under the activity for promotion of fisheries cluster, the General Manager, RAJSANGH visited RMoL to explore possible collaboration in implementation of the activity.
  • Few visits have been undertaken by MART (UNDP Consultant for PPCP) in the reference month for preliminary interaction and discussion on the work plan and for stakeholders’ analysis. The RMoL team is facilitating meetings with partner NGOs to develop workable PPCP models.
  • RMoL participated in the meeting held with DWCD under the Chairmanship of Commissioner WCD on the formation of Amrita Society. The meeting focused on approaches that could be adopted for formation of the society.
  • Under the convergence issue, the District Collectors of Dungarpur, Tonk and Rajsamand have been requested to include the District Managers (DM) of RMoL in all district level committees.
  • The RMoL officials attended the International Conference on Climate Change, Livelihoods and Food Security, organized by IDS, Jaipur
  • The RMoL officials took part in the Stakeholders meeting organized by ILO in Jaipur on effect of the global financial crisis on Sanganer handicraft industry.     
  • The Project Director, RMoL was invited to attend the workshop on developing comprehensive rural development plan for Bhilwara district convened by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
  • The District Manager of RMoL, Rajsamand attended workshop cum exhibition on “Mainstreaming Rural Project” organised at Udaipur by RUDA. The Chief Guest was Sh. C.P. Joshi, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Govt. of India.
